SME innovation stimulation Region and Top Sectors (MIT), stimulates innovation in small and medium-sized enterprises is across regional borders. The programme also encourages better alignment with the Knowledge and Innovation agendas of the Missions for the future. Themes are Energy Transition & Sustainability, Agriculture Water Food, Health & Healthcare, and Safety. There are various MIT instruments, i.e.: MIT knowledge vouchers, feasibility projects, R&D collaboration projects, TKI network activities, TKI innovation brokers. MIT knowledge vouchers can be used when a knowledge institution will answer a knowledge question related to the innovation of products, production processes or services. The voucher covers a maximum of 50% of the costs. With “Feasibility projects” technical and economic risks of an innovation process can be mapped out. Think of literature research, market exploration or industrial research. R&D collaboration projects focus on collaboration between SMEs to develop or innovate products, production processes or services. The TKI innovation brokers instrument can only be applied for by a TKI. An innovation broker can be hired to provide innovation advisory services to SME entrepreneurs. The TKI network activities instrument can also only be requested by a TKI. It concerns a subsidy for network activities such as masterclasses, workshops and conferences.
