Horizon Europe is the EU's Research & Innovation programme for universities, companies and public research organisations. Space has its own work program in Pillar 2, Cluster 4 Digital Industry & Space (DIS): Destination 5 - Strategic autonomy in developing, deploying and using global space-based infrastructures, services, applications and data. However, Space crosses domains and is reflected in various themes such as climate, biodiversity, Green Deal and Digital Europe. Examples are applications of Galileo and Copernicus in pillar 2 cluster 5: climate, energy & mobility and cluster 6: food, bioeconomy, natural resources, agriculture and environment. Pillar 1 “excellent Science” also offers opportunities for space travel, as well as the European Innovation Council (EIC) in pillar 3 and Destination Earth in the new Digital Europe Programme (outside Horizon Europe). An overview of pillars and clusters can be found under “more information”.
RVO offers broad support to Horizon Europe with advisors and National Contact Points (NCPs) for various themes. An overview can be found under “more information”
On behalf of NSO, Groundstation.Space will map out the possibilities for space travel in the entire Horizon Europe program in 2021.
