Microsoft Planetary Computer

Microsoft's “Planetary Computer” program evolved from the “AI for earth” initiative. The platform offers users access to open data, such as the Landsat and Sentinel missions. Additionally, the platform also offers a large amount of pre-processed and non-earth observation data, such as infrastructure maps and biodiversity indicators. This data can be accessed via APIs and analyzed with open-source tools and applications in the Planetary Computer Hub.

There is open access to the data and the possibility to access the APIs, but certain services such as the Planetary Computer Hub and the development environment require an account. In the Planetary Computer Hub, the data can be processed and analyzed in a Jupyterhub environment.
